The SU16 series is designed, engineered and crafted to be the perfect everyday Sport Utility rifle. Differing primarily in barrel length and stock configuration, these gas piston operated, semi-auto rifles accept standard AR-15 magazines, with some models that store two spare, proprietary magazines in the stock.

There are a few SU16 models and configurations to choose from to suit your needs, but all of them feature iron sights and an integrated Picatinny-style rail on top of the receiver to mount your favorite optic.

If you know anything about KelTec, you’ll know that we like to keep things light and simple. The SU16 is an excellent choice for your go-anywhere 5.56 rifle.
Reliable
All of the SU16 models are gas-piston operated which keeps fouling to a minimum where the magic happens. Thanks to the long travel of the bolt carrier, the SU16 series rifles shoot smooth, flat and reliably.

SU16A™
KelTec is where the modern Sport Utility rifle was reinvented and the SU16A is where it all began. Chambered in 5.56 NATO, it’s the go-anywhere utility rifle. It features a magazine storage stock that holds two proprietary 10-round magazines. The forend covers an 18.5″ barrel and doubles as a bipod. Although the SU16 models come with adjustable sights, the receiver offers an integrated Picatinny-style rail for mounting an optic.

SU16B™
Slightly smaller and a 1/2 pound lighter than the A model due to its low profile 16″ barrel chambered in 5.56 NATO, the SU16B offers all the same features. You’ll enjoy the built-in magazine carriers in the stock, integrated bipod forend, adjustable iron sights and Picatinny-style rail for mounting an optic.

SU16C™
The Charlie model offers an under-folding stock for compact storage, however this variant still operates in the folded position with a metal GI magazine or proprietary KELTEC 10-round magazine. Like all the SU16 models, it’s chambered for the common 5.56 NATO cartridge, comes equipped with a Picatinny-style rail up top and it’s excellent for outdoor activities that require a lightweight, compact rifle.

Here’s where things get really interesting. The SU16D9 is the shortest and lightest of the SU16 line. The main difference between it and the SU16C are the 9″ barrel and compact forend. But they come at a price, because the SU16D9 is an NFA item and unfortunately tax stamps are still a thing. If you’re looking for an extremely light, compact and capable 5.56 short-barreled rifle, the D9 is for you.

But they come at a price, because the SU16D12 is an NFA item and unfortunately tax stamps are still a thing. If you’re looking for an extremely light, compact and capable 5.56 short-barreled rifle, the D12 or D9 are for you.
